Senior/Project Manager (non-IT)

About this role

We're looking for a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to join our Market Regulation branch. This is a fixed term or secondment opportunity until 7 December 2026 and can be based in our either Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) office or Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) office.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

You'll lead medium to large-scale projects from planning through to delivery, ensuring robust project management practices and strong stakeholder engagement. You'll work closely with internal teams and external partners, providing clear advice and reporting, while mentoring others and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing environment.

Depending on your experience, you'll either:

• Project Manager: Manage projects within structured frameworks, coordinate teams, and ensure delivery of outputs on time and within budget.
• Senior Project Manager: Lead more complex projects, including consultation processes, and provide strategic oversight and coaching across the team.                                  

The indicative salary range for a Project Manager is $114,327- $134,502 and for a Senior Project Manager $123,386 - $145,160 plus 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects their individual skills, experience, and internal relativities across the organisation.

• Holds an undergraduate degree (or equivalent experience), with a recognised project management qualification.
• Demonstrates expert-level project management capability, including planning, budgeting, risk management, and delivery.
• Communicates clearly and confidently, with experience presenting to internal and external stakeholders.
• Builds and maintains effective relationships across diverse teams and external partners.
• For the Senior Project Manager, you'll also bring:
  • Proven experience managing complex projects in a regulatory or policy environment.
  • Strategic thinking and strong conceptual, analytical, and numerical skills.
  • Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring project teams.
